MOH provides uninterrupted health services despite Wednesday early morning power outage
Kuwait’s healthcare system successfully withstood Wednesday’s early morning power outage, with backup systems ensuring uninterrupted medical services across hospitals and health facilities, the Ministry of Health announced.
The Ministry’s Undersecretary, Sheikh Dr. Salman Khalifa Al-Sabah, conducted an inspection tour of several health facilities to assess operational readiness and ensure the continued delivery of healthcare services under the ministry’s approved emergency and contingency plans.
During the visit, the Undersecretary reviewed the performance of backup power generators, which proved fully capable of maintaining electricity supply to critical medical facilities. The ministry confirmed that hospitals and healthcare centers continued operating normally, with no disruption to patient care or essential medical services.
The inspection covered Al-Farwaniya Hospital, several ministry-affiliated health facilities, and the central medical warehouses. The tour focused on evaluating the effectiveness of emergency operational systems, the implementation of contingency measures, and the overall readiness of health institutions to respond to unforeseen situations.
The Undersecretary also verified the availability of the country’s strategic reserves of medicines, medical supplies, equipment, and essential devices, affirming that adequate stocks are in place to ensure the continuity and sustainability of healthcare services under all circumstances.
He said the successful response reflected the ministry’s high level of preparedness and the effectiveness of its regularly updated and tested emergency plans, enabling rapid response while maintaining uninterrupted healthcare services.
The field inspection, he added, forms part of the ministry’s policy of maintaining direct oversight of healthcare operations, supporting frontline teams, strengthening institutional readiness, and ensuring citizens and residents continue to receive medical care with the highest standards of efficiency and quality.
The Undersecretary praised the technical, engineering, medical, and administrative teams across the health sector for their swift response and professional performance, noting that their coordinated efforts ensured the seamless activation of contingency plans without any significant impact on healthcare delivery.
The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its commitment to continuously monitoring the readiness of all healthcare facilities and further strengthening emergency preparedness to safeguard patients, visitors, and the uninterrupted delivery of quality healthcare services.
