Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi has launched Kuwait’s winter vaccination campaign for the current season as part of the ministry’s efforts to prevent seasonal respiratory illnesses and reduce the risk of serious complications.
The campaign was launched at the Mubarak Al-Hasawi Specialized Health Center in Hitteen in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs Dr. Al-Mundhir Al-Hasawi.
The Ministry of Health said the campaign covers seasonal influenza vaccination as well as recommended vaccinations to help prevent pneumonia. Vaccinations are being provided to citizens and residents at 90 health centers and hospitals across Kuwait’s various health regions, making the services widely accessible.
The ministry urged members of the public to take the initiative and receive their seasonal vaccinations, particularly those considered more vulnerable to complications, including the elderly, children, people with chronic diseases, pregnant women, individuals with weakened immunity and healthcare workers.
The ministry called on the public to benefit from the campaign in line with medical guidelines and recommendations.
Dr. Hamad Bastaki, head of the Infectious Diseases Control Department, said vaccinations represent the first line of defense against winter respiratory diseases, helping reduce the likelihood of infection and limiting the severity of illness and related complications.
He added that vaccinations can also help reduce the number of cases requiring hospitalization. Bastaki stressed the ministry’s commitment to making vaccines available at the largest possible number of health centers and hospitals to ensure convenient access for citizens and residents.
He encouraged everyone, particularly those at greater risk of complications, to receive their vaccinations at the appropriate time and take preventive measures before the winter respiratory illness season intensifies.
