39,932 citations issued, 1,211 accidents recorded in one week

Intensive security and traffic campaigns to continue in Kuwait

Intensive security and traffic campaigns in Kuwait last week resulted in 39,932 traffic citations, the arrest of 196 wanted criminals and the handling of 1,211 accidents, according to the Operations Affairs Sector of the Ministry of Interior.

The campaigns were carried out by the Directorate-General of Traffic of and the Emergency Police as part of ongoing efforts to enforce traffic laws and enhance road safety.

During the campaigns 503 vehicles and four motorcycles were impounded; authorities also seized 29 vehicles wanted by the judiciary. In addition, 23 juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Prosecution for committing serious traffic violations, and 28 motorists were detained at the Traffic Detention Center pending legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, Emergency Police campaigns carried out from August 23 to 29 resulted in 2,190 traffic violations and the arrest of 167 wanted individuals. The campaigns also led to the arrest of 98 violators of residency and labor laws.

Emergency Police arrested 20 people on suspicion of using or possessing narcotics, while five individuals found in an abnormal state were referred to the Anti-Narcotics Department and impounded 90 vehicles and responded to 146 accidents during the same period.
