Elephants crush American hunter to death

An American hunter who specialized in hunting large game was killed after being trampled by a group of elephants during a hunting trip in Gabon.
The well-known hunter Ernie Dossio, 75, was hunting antelopes in Gabon when the incident occurred. He and his guide were attacked by five female elephants and one of their calves while in the Lobi Okanda rainforest, resulting in his death.
According to the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, the safari tour operator “Collect Africa” confirmed the death of its client, and reported that the professional hunter who was accompanying him was seriously injured during the confrontation.
The newspaper reported that officials from the US embassy in Libreville are currently coordinating to return Dussio’s body to California.
Over the years, the wealthy hunter amassed a large collection of hunting memorabilia, including animals such as elephants and lions.
The forests of Gabon are home to about 95,000 “Gabi” elephants, which is the largest population of this species in the world, although it is classified as a critically endangered species.
Every year, hunters kill tens of thousands of wild animals around the world.
