Kuwait-France relations mark 65 years of cultural and human exchange

French Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Olivier Gauvin emphasized Wednesday the depth of cultural and human ties uniting the two nations, noting that celebrating 65 years of diplomatic relations reflects decades of strategic friendship and mutual exchange.
Speaking at the launch of the French Institute in Kuwait’s cultural season for the second half of 2026, Ambassador Gauvin stated that bilateral relations are measured by the richness of human, educational, and scientific bonds developed across generations.
He commended the ongoing partnership between the French Institute and the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) in promoting cross-cultural initiatives. Director of the French Institute in Kuwait Soraya Saa outlined the upcoming season’s framework, noting the establishment of new creative spaces including studios for emerging artists, “Gallery 41” for contemporary art exhibitions, and “Club France,” which will host film, literary, and digital experiences.
The upcoming cultural itinerary includes an exhibition by Kuwaiti artist Maryam Al-Salem and a musical concert on October 13 at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre. The Institute will also participate in “French Week” at Al-Asima Mall from October 28 to 31, showcasing French expertise in education, culture, culinary arts, automotive, and technology.
Additionally, the Institute plans active participation in the Kuwait International Book Fair, culminating in December with a joint “France-Kuwait Diwaniya” event held simultaneously in Paris and Kuwait in collaboration with the Arab World Institute to mark the 65th anniversary milestone.
