Coast Guard foils major drug smuggling attempt in Kuwaiti territorial waters

The Directorate-General of the Coast Guard announced a large quantity of narcotics and psychotropic substances were seized during a maritime security operation inside Kuwait’s territorial waters.

The operation took place during seabed patrols in the ship waiting areas, as part of intensified surveillance efforts to secure the nation’s maritime borders.

According to the Directorate, the patrols led to the discovery and confiscation of 193 pieces of hashish and 93 psychotropic pills, totaling approximately 10,000 tablets, which were reportedly prepared for sale, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The seized substances were recovered and documented as part of ongoing efforts to combat smuggling and drug trafficking operations conducted through maritime routes.

The Coast Guard emphasized that this operation reflects the implementation of its comprehensive security strategy designed to strengthen coastal monitoring, deter smuggling activities, and prevent the misuse of Kuwaiti waters for trafficking prohibited substances.

In a statement, the Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its firm commitment to enforcing security plans that protect the country’s maritime borders and maintain public safety.

The Ministry also commended the dedication, efficiency, and vigilance of Coast Guard personnel, whose continuous efforts play a vital role in ensuring the integrity and security of Kuwait’s maritime zones.
