Bungee jump turns fatal as woman plunges 130 feet before horrified crowd
Shocking videos recorded at the scene and later circulated on social media appear to show staff escorting the young woman to the edge of the bridge before releasing her, seemingly unaware that the main safety cord had not been secured.

A 21-year-old woman died in a horrific bungee jumping accident in Brazil after staff allegedly pushed her from a bridge without attaching the safety rope, sparking outrage, panic among witnesses, and a criminal investigation into the tragedy.
The victim, identified as Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, plunged more than 130 feet to her death from Skeleton Bridge in Sao Paulo state during an adventure tourism activity organised by a private company.
Shocking videos recorded at the scene and later circulated on social media appear to show staff escorting the young woman to the edge of the bridge before releasing her, seemingly unaware that the main safety cord had not been secured.

Moments after she jumped, terrified witnesses realised something had gone catastrophically wrong.
“The rope, people, the rope!” bystanders can be heard screaming in footage filmed at the scene as Maria fell into the ravine below.
According to Brazilian authorities, the safety line designed to stop the fall had not been connected to her body before the jump.
Emergency responders rushed to the site but were unable to save her, confirming her death at the scene. Her body was later transferred to the Legal Medical Institute for forensic examination.
The tragedy has drawn even greater public attention because of Maria’s final social media post made shortly before the fatal jump.
She had shared photos from the bridge wearing her jump wristbands and jokingly wrote: “Who was the crazy person who let me come jump off a bridge?”
The post has since gone viral following news of the accident.
Local media reported that Maria’s fiancé was present during the incident and became physically ill after learning she had died, requiring medical assistance at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that six people were arrested shortly after the accident as investigators began examining whether negligence or failures in safety procedures contributed to the fatal fall.
Brazil’s Civil Police have launched a full investigation into the incident, focusing on staff responsibilities, operational procedures, and whether mandatory safety checks were ignored before the jump took place.
The accident has also intensified scrutiny over safety standards at adventure tourism sites across Brazil.
Limeira Mayor Murilo Félix said local authorities would file a formal complaint with the federal government and demand accountability regarding safety conditions at the location, according to India Today.
“It is necessary to determine responsibility for the lack of access control to a federal area that has presented known risks for years and still lacks the necessary protection measures,” the mayor said.
As investigators continue to piece together how such a fatal lapse could occur, disturbing footage from the scene and the victim’s haunting final message online have fuelled growing public anger and renewed calls for stricter regulation of extreme sports operators.
