ICAI Kuwait Chapter hosts webinar on Demystifying NRI Taxation
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Kuwait Chapter (ICAIKC) conducted an insightful webinar on “Demystifying NRI Taxation” on Saturday, 27th June 2026, featuring renowned taxation expert CA Ajay R. Vaswani, a specialist in NRI Taxation and FEMA advisory. The session witnessed strong participation from over 140+ attendees across Kuwait.
The session was formally commenced by CA Ketan Puri, Treasurer of ICAIKC, who moderated the event and set the context for the evening.
This was followed by welcome address by CA Sweta Chipra, Vice Chariperson ICAIKC, who emphasized the growing importance of understanding NRI taxation in light of increasing global mobility, overseas investments and evolving tax regulations.
The session by CA Ajay R. Vaswani provided a clear and practical perspective on the complexities of NRI taxation, demystifying key concepts around residential status, taxability of income and India-Kuwait DTAA.
Through case-based discussions, he highlighted critical tax considerations for NRIs and returning residents, enabling participants to better navigate cross-border tax obligations and make informed financial decisions.
The interactive Q&A segment was moderated by CA Andaleeb Girkar and CA Sonia Enamakel, enabling participants to seek clarifications on NRI tax residency rules, taxation of foreign and Indian income, compliance requirements and practical issues commonly faced by NRIs and returning residents.
