Lieutenant General Khaled Al Shariaan, Chief of the General Staff of the Kuwait Armed Forces, met today with Major General Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, to discuss topics of mutual interest, particularly military cooperation and defense coordination.

According to a statement from the General Staff, both sides reaffirmed the strength of the military ties between their countries and the shared commitment of their leaderships to advancing joint action.

They emphasized the importance of continuing to exchange expertise to enhance defense capabilities in the face of evolving challenges.

The meeting was attended by UAE Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Matar Al Neyadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al Meshaal, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Kuwaiti Army Major General Pilot Sabah Al Jaber, and a number of senior military officers from both nations.

Following the meeting, Air Vice-Marshal Sabah Al Jaber and Major General Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoun visited Mohammed Al-Ahmad Naval Base, where an official reception was held.

The delegation received a detailed briefing on the naval force’s missions and observed a joint air and naval demonstration showcasing the high level of readiness, discipline, and operational efficiency of both forces.

The visit is part of ongoing efforts to deepen fraternal ties and military cooperation, with a focus on learning about advanced training methods and developing military personnel to ensure maximum combat preparedness.

As part of the official program, the Deputy Chief of Staff and his Emirati counterpart visited the Governor of Al-Ahmadi, Sheikh Hamoud Al-Jaber, for a courtesy meeting.

They also toured the Ahmad Al-Jaber Oil and Gas Exhibition, where they explored the historical and educational aspects of Kuwait’s oil industry. The officials praised the interactive and modern technologies used in the exhibition, which reflect Kuwait’s leadership in this critical sector.

The visit concluded with a stop at the Sabah Al-Ahmad Naval Base, affiliated with the General Directorate of Coast Guard.

There, the delegation was briefed on the coastal surveillance systems, maritime drone operations, and the ongoing project to rebuild patrol boats—undertaken in cooperation with Emirati defense company EDGE. The project was hailed as a major enhancement to Kuwait’s coastal defense capabilities.
