ICS hosts magical evening of poetry and performance at ‘Izhaar-e-Khayaal’

The Indian Cultural Society (ICS) brought poetry lovers together for an unforgettable literary evening, Izhaar-e-Khayaal, held recently. This distinguished event was a heartfelt celebration of poetry, performance, and Indo-Kuwaiti friendship.
Headlining the event was the legendary Padma Shri Surendra Sharma, renowned for his humor and signature refrain, “Chaar Lainaa Suna Raha Hoon.” He was joined by an ensemble of celebrated poets including Azhar Iqbal, Shabeena Adeeb, Abbas Qamar, and Manika Dubey, each known for their powerful verses and captivating delivery.
From soulful ghazals to contemporary nazms, the evening showcased poetry in its many forms —humorous, romantic, and reflective — highlighting its timeless ability to inspire and connect.
The evening began with the national anthems of Kuwait and India, symbolizing the enduring ties between the two nations. This was followed by a mesmerizing solo and musical act by local talent Egg. Nand Kumar, drawing applause from the appreciative crowd.
A major highlight of the night was the dazzling performance by the Dancing Divas. Their presentation featured two mesmerizing routines: an energetic display by young performers brimming with enthusiasm, and an evocative tribute by the ladies’ troupe, who transported the audience to the golden era of Indian cinema with references to classics like Mughal-e-Azam, Pakeezah, and Umrao Jaan.
These performances stood as a testament to the artistic brilliance of choreographer Jyoti Patel, whose storytelling through dance added depth and beauty to the evening.
The event’s peak came with the release of a commemorative Souvenir, graced by ICS’s esteemed guests and generous sponsors.
Among the notable dignitaries were singer Mubarak Al Rashidi, Asad Khan (CEO – KSCC), Sultan M. Al Kandary, Ashok Kalra (MD – Mughal Mahal Group), Housdar Khan (MD – A.K. Gen Trd Co.), and several other distinguished personalities from Kuwait’s business and cultural landscape.
Marketing representatives from respected organizations such as Al Mulla Exchange, Caesars Foods, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Al Zahem Malhotra, and many more added further prestige to the gathering. Prominent community groups like UPNRI Forum, AMUOBA, and Meena Khan & Group were also in attendance, showcasing unity and vibrant cultural participation.
Throughout the evening, speeches celebrated India’s global contributions, the power of cultural exchange, and the cherished Indo-Kuwait friendship. ICS was widely praised for its dedication to promoting literature, arts, and noble social causes.
Artistic contributors received special mementos in appreciation of their impactful performances. With flawless hospitality, coordinated security, and seamless event execution, ICS once again proved its reputation for excellence.
The night closed on an emotional note, as the audience gave a standing ovation to the poets and performers. In his closing address, the ICS President delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, extending gratitude to every team member, volunteer, sponsor, and supporter who made Izhaar-e-Khayaal an evening to remember.
