Kuwait wins 10 medals, including 3 gold, at 4th Gulf Games on day four

Kuwait won 10 medals today, Friday, including three gold, five silver, and two bronze, on the fourth day of the 4th Gulf Games, which continue until May 22 in the Qatari capital, Doha.

In shooting competitions, Kuwait’s shooting team won the gold medal in the men’s skeet team event through shooters Saud Al-Kandari, Mohammed Al-Daihani, and Abdulaziz Al-Saad, ahead of Saudi Arabia, which came second, while Qatar finished third.

In the individual category, shooter Mohammed Al-Awad secured second place and the silver medal in the men’s skeet event. The Kuwaiti women’s skeet team, consisting of Afrah Mohammed and Fatima Al-Zuabi, also won the bronze medal, finishing third.

In fencing, the women’s épée team, comprising Fawzia Al-Rifai, Fatima Qasim, and Yasmine Al-Shawaab, won the gold medal after defeating the UAE team. Meanwhile, the men’s foil team, made up of Ali Al-Nassar, Abdulwahab Mohammed, and Yaqoub Al-Shatti, claimed the bronze medal in the team competition.

In equestrian events, rider Ali Al-Kharafi won silver in the individual 145 cm jumping competition, finishing behind UAE’s Abdullah Al-Muhairi, who took gold, while Qatar’s Basel Mohammed came third. Another Kuwaiti rider, Hussein Al-Kharafi, finished fourth.

In athletics, runner Yaqoub Al-Yoha won gold in the 110m hurdles. Abdullah Al-Azmi won silver in the men’s long jump, Abdulrahman Al-Azmi secured silver in the javelin throw, and Al-Jazi Farhan also took silver in the women’s heptathlon.
In swimming, Kuwait won a bronze medal in the men’s 4x100m medley relay.

In team sports, Kuwait’s handball team lost to Bahrain 21–30 in its opening match of the tournament and will face Qatar tomorrow, Saturday.

It is worth noting that the 4th Gulf Games feature around 1,400 male and female athletes from GCC countries, competing in 17 different sports.
