Police probe possible foul play in Syrian man’s coma case

Family claims injury was caused after the man fell from bed

The Ministry of Interior has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the hospitalization of a Syrian expatriate in his 50s who fell into a coma after what his family described as a fall from a bed.

The man was admitted to the intensive care unit of a government hospital after arriving unconscious. His daughter told police that her father had fallen from the bed and that she rushed him to hospital after hearing him call for help.

However, security authorities said the circumstances surrounding the incident raised questions, prompting further investigation into the cause of the injuries.

A security source said investigators are examining all possibilities, including the possibility of foul play, and that the Criminal Investigation Department has been assigned to look into the case in detail.

Police are expected to question the man’s daughter, wife, and others who may have been present at the time of the incident.

Authorities said the expatriate’s medical condition and his ability to provide information once he recovers will play an important role in establishing what actually happened.

Investigators will also review evidence from the scene and determine whether the injuries are consistent with a fall from a low height or were caused by another incident.
