Kuwait sees 38% drop in student exam bans on first day of secondary tests

The Ministry of Education announced on Wednesday a significant (37.8 percent) decrease in the number of secondary school students barred from taking exams on the first day of the 2024–2025 academic year, compared to the same period last year.

The drop reflects improved student awareness and the success of regulatory and preventive measures enforced by exam committees, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to a press statement, the total number of exams bans on the first day fell to 56 cases, down from 90 last year. The Ministry attributed this decline to the effectiveness of awareness campaigns and the coordinated efforts of educational and administrative staff.

In the science section, the number of students banned from sitting the mathematics exam dropped from 57 to 26 cases — a 54.4% decrease. In the arts section, French language exam bans slightly decreased from 33 to 30 cases, a 9.1% reduction.

The Ministry emphasized that this positive trend is the result of intensified oversight and the creation of a disciplined exam environment. It praised school administrations for their strict enforcement of regulations and readiness to ensure that exams proceed calmly and fairly.

The statement highlighted that the improvement strengthens confidence in current educational policies and reflects a growing sense of responsibility among students. The Ministry also underscored the importance of continued cooperation between parents, teachers, and administrators in promoting educational values, encouraging positive competition, and reinforcing student commitment.

Concluding its statement, the Ministry expressed optimism that this encouraging start would carry over into the remaining exam days, reaffirming its commitment to fairness, discipline, and student success.
