23 suspects arrested during anti-drug crackdown in 12 separate cases
- Drug enforcement officers seize methamphetamine, heroin, hashish, Captagon, Lyrica capsules, drug-packaging materials, cash and other evidence during coordinated anti-drug operations across 12 separate cases.
Personnel from the Directorate-General for Drug Control have arrested 23 suspects in 12 separate cases involving the possession of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances intended for trafficking and personal use, the Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday.
The arrests followed intensive surveillance and investigations that uncovered the suspects’ illegal activities.
During the operations, officers seized 860 grams of methamphetamine, 50 grams of heroin, 1.005 kilograms of hashish, 21 grams of marijuana, one gram of cocaine, 2.062 kilograms of chemical substances, 120 milliliters of chemical oil, 105 papers soaked with chemical substances, 5,620 Lyrica capsules, 130 Captagon tablets, 80 psychotropic capsules, five precision scales, eight rounds of ammunition, packaging materials, and 3,955 dinars believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.
All suspects and the seized items were referred to the competent authorities for legal action.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations, stressing that security agencies will continue pursuing drug traffickers, dealers and users to protect society.
It added that the latest arrests form part of ongoing nationwide campaigns led by the Criminal Security Sector to combat narcotics and psychotropic substances.
