Kuwait renews commitment to enhancing protection of medical care

Kuwait renewed on Wednesday its commitment to enhancing protection of medical care and that the UN Security Council resolution 2286 is translated into reality in the coming years.
This came in a statement by Second Secretary of the Permanent Kuwaiti Delegation to the UN Wafiqah Al-Mulla, before a meeting on protecting medical care in the face of evolving threats.
She added that the resolution, when adopted in 2016, constituted a clear obligation of all parties to the conflict to respect and protect the wounded, sick, medical and humanitarian workers.
Al-Mulla pointed out that even after a decade, attacks on health facilities and their workers continue in various conflict areas, reflecting gaps in implementation, compliance, and the continued state of impunity.
She urged the Council and all member states to strengthen monitoring and reporting of attacks on healthcare, including improving data collection, and ensuring the protection of civilians. – Kuna
