Kuwait eager to shine during Expo 2025 Osaka

The State of Kuwait is eager to shine during its participation in the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, showcasing Kuwaiti rich history and traditions, said Minister of Information and Culture Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi on Saturday.
Minister Al-Mutairi’s statement came during his Tokyo meeting with Japan’s Minister for the World Expo 2025 Yoshikata Ito.
Al-Mutairi, also State Minister for Youth Affairs, discussed with Ito during the meeting preparations for the upcoming global event scheduled on April and Kuwait’s participation in the Expo.
Al-Mutairi noted that Kuwait partook in the Osaka Expo in 1970, affirming that after 55 years, the participation came at a time when both nations were celebrating over 60 years of cooperation and friendship.
He affirmed that the success of Japan in this grand event was a success for Kuwait, noting that his country was keen partaking in the event, a sentiment reflected in Kuwait being the first Arab country and the eighth on a global level to sign the Expo participation contract.
He added that Kuwait was keen on revealing its Expo pavilion during a press conference in Japan in a step reflective of the strong bilateral relations liking the two countries.
He commended the Kuwaiti embassy in Japan for its relentless efforts to support Kuwait’s participation via facilitating visits of Kuwaiti delegations to the pavilion in preparations for the global event.
On his current visit to Japan, the Minister affirmed that he was keen on directly overseein the latest developments connected with the construction of the Kuwaiti pavilion to make sure that the facility was up to the highest standards.
On his part, Minister Ito commended the unique design of the Kuwaiti pavilion, which would hopefully impress and attract the expo visitors.
Minister Ito affirmed that the Expo would further help connect Japan with the world through Expo Osaka.
He expressed gratitude to Minister Al-Mutairi’s invitation to Yoshihiro Murai — Governor of Miyagi Prefecture and the Chairman of the National Governors’ Association — who visited Kuwait and took part in the opening celebrations of Kuwait as the 2025 capital of Arab media and culture, delivering a speech at the event.
The minister also expressed gratitude to Kuwait for its support to Japan during the devastating earthquake and Tsunami of 2011, saying that the humanitarian stance would always be enshrined in the memory of the Japanese people.
Also providing his statement, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Japan Sami Al-Zamanan stressed Kuwait’s keenness on a successful participation of in the World Expo, noting that he had organized a meeting for Arab Ambassadors in Tokyo with the participation of Japanese Foreign Ministry personnel and the Expo organizing committee to coordinate Arab participation and supporting Japan in the Expo.
He stressed that the Kuwaiti embassy would do its utmost to make sure that the Kuwaiti participation in the Expo was successful, commending at the same time, Japanese cooperation and support to Kuwait and its pavilion.
A number of other Kuwaiti and Japanese officials were present at the meeting.
