International Women’s Groups’ annual celebrations marks the upcoming New Year

The International Women’s Group (IWG) hosted its annual celebration to mark the upcoming New Year on the evening of Sunday, December 8th, at Al-Jawhara Hall in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The event was filled with joy and cheer as members of the IWG Executive Board warmly greeted members and their guests.

In her opening speech, Mrs. Polina Dalmini, the wife of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Eswatini and the President of the IWG for 2024-2025, welcomed ambassadors, honored guests, and members. Mrs. Dalmini expressed her gratitude to the Honorary President of the group, H. E. Sheikha Hanouf Al-Bader Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, for her ongoing support and efforts.

Mrs. Dalmini highlighted the spirit of friendship, cooperation, and solidarity, expressing her joy at being surrounded by individuals from diverse countries and cultures to celebrate hope, love, and peace. Mrs. Dalmini extended her festive greetings to all, wishing for the New Year to bring prosperity and happiness to the Kuwaiti people and to all nations.

A beautiful video presentation provided by the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Kuwait, showcased the Nativity Church in Bethlehem, the world’s oldest continuously used Christian place of worship.

The State of Palestine played a key role in its preservation, commissioning a 2013 study in collaboration with the Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Armenian churches, which led to extensive renovations. This effort resulted in the church’s removal from the UN World Monument Fund’s endangered list in 2020. The presentation concluded with Palestinian singers Lina Sleibi and Milad Fatouh performing ‘The Prayer’ in front of the iconic church.

To the delight of the attendees, the talented Saint Cecilia Choir performed musical renditions of traditional seasonal favorites. The celebration also featured other festive songs, an appearance by Santa Claus and his elves, and the distribution of gifts and prizes to members and guests. A sumptuous dinner, specially prepared by the chefs of the Crowne Plaza, was enjoyed by all.

In her closing remarks, Mrs. Dalmini thanked the IWG Board Members for their dedication and hard work in organizing such outstanding social events. Mrs. Dalmini also extended special thanks to the event’s supporters for their continued generosity and goodwill.
