Kuwait Technical College launches Bachelor’s programs to bridge education and labor market

In a significant step toward enhancing applied university education and aligning with labor market demands, Kuwait Technical College (KTech) has announced the launch of new bachelor’s degree programs. This marks a new chapter in the institution’s academic evolution, transitioning from diploma-only offerings to advanced university-level programs in cutting-edge technical fields. The move aims to solidify KTech’s role as a pioneering technical academic institution in Kuwait.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mishari Ayman Boudi, described the launch as a major milestone, reflecting the college’s mission to deliver a university model built around technology and the needs of the modern job market, reports Al-Rai daily.

“We are taking a significant step toward practical university education that reflects student aspirations and global digital trends,” Boudi said. “In today’s world, digital education is not just a tool — it’s a bridge linking national ambition with global progress.”

He emphasized that KTech considers digital learning to be a key pillar in building a generation of skilled Kuwaitis capable of innovation and global competitiveness. He also pointed to the college’s strategic partnership with Eastern Michigan University, a respected U.S. institution known for its accredited and diverse academic programs, as a means to enhance both local and international accreditation opportunities.

KTech has recently obtained initial institutional accreditation from the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). In addition, its College of Business Administration has joined the AACSB accreditation system, and its cybersecurity program has earned recognition from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment, Noura Ayman Boodai, explained that the newly introduced bachelor’s programs were carefully designed following a thorough analysis of local and global market needs.

The selected majors — cybersecurity, accounting, marketing, and information systems — are integral to the digital economy and represent future high-value employment sectors.

“We have built our curricula to merge academic excellence with real-world skills, so that our graduates are fully prepared for the workforce even before they finish their degrees,” Boodai said.

She also highlighted KTech’s dedication to holistic student development. The college offers a wide range of extracurricular opportunities, from scientific clubs to professional sports teams, fostering confidence, teamwork, and leadership among students.

This approach has led to international sporting successes, including a third-place finish for KTech’s volleyball team among 120 universities globally and an eighth-place finish for its basketball team at the World University Championship in Rome.

Boodai affirmed the college’s commitment to inclusive education, especially for students with disabilities or special educational needs. The campus is fully equipped with accessible infrastructure and academic support through its Student Services Department.

“We believe every student deserves equal access to education and support. That’s why we’ve eliminated barriers to ensure our learning environment is welcoming and inclusive,” she added.

In line with its focus on professional empowerment, KTech actively builds partnerships with public and private sector entities, both local and international. These collaborations open the door for students to gain valuable field training, apply classroom learning in real settings, and build meaningful professional networks.

“Field training gives students real experience and helps employers discover emerging talent early. It’s a win-win model that connects education with national development,” Boodai said.

Vice President of Finance and Administration, Abdulrahman Al-Ajeel, noted that KTech’s operations are fully aligned with a comprehensive digital vision. From registration and scheduling systems to classrooms and labs, every component is managed through smart, interconnected platforms.

“Our infrastructure is built to the highest international standards,” he said. “Technology isn’t just a tool here — it’s the foundation of how we educate, manage, and evolve.”

He added that significant investment has been made in attracting internationally experienced faculty and that the college’s emphasis on Kuwaitization is showing results, with over 40% of academic and administrative staff now Kuwaiti nationals — a major step toward empowering national talent.

Located in Abu Halifa, Ahmadi Governorate, KTech enjoys a strategic position between residential, commercial, and industrial zones, enhancing student access and internship opportunities while strengthening the college’s role as a dynamic academic hub.

Registration for the new bachelor’s degree programs for the 2025–2026 academic year is now open. The college is also offering scholarships for outstanding students, reaffirming its mission to invest in the next generation of Kuwaiti innovators.

“We’re not just offering education,” the college emphasized. “We’re creating an ecosystem for innovation, empowerment, and leadership — one that will shape the future of Kuwait.”
