Municipal Council approves key infrastructure and urban planning proposals

The Municipal Council, in its regular session held Monday under the chairmanship of Vice Chairman Khaled Al-Mutairi, approved several key proposals to enhance infrastructure and urban development across the country.

Most notably, the Council approved a request by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy to allocate routes for overhead power lines linking the main Shaqaya (Z) transformer station to the main Wafra (Z) transformer station. The move supports the expansion and reliability of Kuwait’s power grid, reports Al-Rai daily.

Additionally, the Council endorsed a proposal to amend the tables attached to the building regulations, a step expected to modernize and streamline building code compliance.

Urban development was also on the agenda. The Council gave the green light to the planning of part of Al-Mubarakiya suburb (formerly Block 15), along with initial approval for the re-planning of another section of the same area, signaling continued efforts to revitalize older neighborhoods.

In another decision, the Council approved a request to add an area to Plot (1) of the survey plan related to Plot (70) in the Farwaniya area, allowing for further adjustments in land use and planning.

These approvals reflect the Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting infrastructure development, regulatory reform, and urban planning in alignment with Kuwait’s broader development goals.
