10-member committee formed to oversee classification of engineering, consulting firms

The Kuwait Municipality is receiving applications from engineering offices and consulting firms seeking qualification and classification, in line with efforts to enhance oversight and standards in project planning and implementation.

In a statement, the Municipality said a 10-member committee is responsible for qualifying and classifying engineering offices and consulting firms.

The committee is chaired by Engineer Suleiman Al-Rashed, with Engineer Mohammed Al-Adwani from the Ministry of Interior serving as deputy chairman. The remaining members include five representatives from the Kuwait Municipality and five from the Ministry of Interior, ensuring joint oversight and inter-agency coordination, reports Al-Rai daily.

The committee, formed pursuant to Administrative Resolution No. 82/2025, has been tasked with several key responsibilities. Chief among these is developing clear criteria and regulatory controls for qualifying and accrediting consulting firms, specialized engineering offices, and international consultancy entities operating within Kuwait.

A particular focus of the committee’s work will be the approval of firms eligible to conduct and prepare irrigation-related studies, reflecting Kuwait’s emphasis on sustainable development and resource management in urban planning.

This move is expected to streamline the process of project implementation and ensure higher professional standards in engineering and consulting services across the country.
Interested firms can now submit their applications to the committee in accordance with the set regulations and timelines.
