Iraqi envoy praises Kuwait’s humanitarian role, confirms resumption of maritime border talks

Iraqi Ambassador to Kuwait, H.E. Al-Manhal Al-Safi, commended Kuwait’s humanitarian initiative during the recent regional crisis triggered by the Iran-Israel conflict, highlighting the country’s swift support for Iraqi citizens stranded abroad due to airspace closures.
In a statement delivered while offering condolences at the Iranian embassy, Al-Safi expressed deep gratitude to Kuwait for granting exceptional transit visas to more than 3,500 Iraqis. “This compassionate gesture had a profound effect on the affected families,” he said, adding that Kuwait once again demonstrated its steadfast commitment to humanitarian and fraternal values, reports Al-Rai daily.
He extended heartfelt appreciation to the officers and personnel of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior for their around-the-clock efforts in facilitating the transit process. He specifically praised First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, Acting Undersecretary Major General Ali Al-Adwani, and all individuals involved in the successful execution of the mission.
Turning to bilateral relations, Al-Safi announced that the long-anticipated meeting of the Kuwaiti-Iraqi joint technical and legal committee—responsible for completing maritime border demarcation—will be held soon. The meeting had been delayed due to recent regional tensions, but both sides remain committed to resuming discussions in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect.
He emphasized that progress in border negotiations reflects the constructive dialogue and shared determination of both countries to strengthen diplomatic and legal frameworks governing their mutual interests.
