Celebration of Poetry at Writers’ Forum Kuwait
The month of November is filled with celebrations, including Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and many others.
One such event was the celebration of poetry at the monthly meeting of the Writers’ Forum Kuwait held on Friday, November 22, at the residence of Dr. Radhika Guleri Bhardwaj.
The meeting was chaired by the President of the Forum, Mrs. Maimuna Chougle, and Ms. Sabiha Bilgrami served as the Chief Guest of the evening.
At the onset, the General Secretary, Ms. Nazneen Ali, welcomed everyone and shared the good news of celebrating the Republic Day of India in collaboration with the Indian Community School, Khaitan. This was followed by discussions related to the Forum’s activities and plans for the future.
Next was the prose section of the meeting, featuring an enlightening article by Mrs. Maimuna Ali Chougle, followed by the vivid colors of poetry, which made the evening bright and truly colorful.
The poetry featured a diverse mix of art in terms of language, form, pattern, subject, and rendition. Each poet’s creation was like a blooming flower, and together they formed a colorful bouquet, offering a soothing feel for both the eyes and the soul.
Ms. Nazneen Ali, Dr. Rajesh Gupta, and Sayeed Nazar Kadpawi recited in Urdu, while Dr. Radhika, Yajuvendra Chandrakar, Dr. Vinod Kaushik, and Aamir Diwan chose Hindi as their medium of expression. Parminder Kaur’s English poetry was recited by her father, Mohan Singh.
In the concluding session, Ms. Sabiha Bilgrami deeply appreciated each poet’s creativity. Ms. Bilgrami then recited the English translations of Dr. Rajesh’s Urdu poetry that she is currently working on. In her Presidential remarks, Mrs. Maimuna Chougle admired the efforts of the members in nurturing and promoting literature.
There was also a detailed discussion on the impact that literature has on social customs and traditions, and how it can redefine the attitudes and approaches of the next generation, making the world a better place.
The meeting concluded with everyone enjoying the savory dishes and thanking the host, Dr. Radhika, for her warm hospitality.
