Interior Ministry denies reports of former MP Saleh Ashour’s arrest

The Ministry of Interior has denied reports circulating on social media claiming that former MP Saleh Ashour and one of his brothers had been arrested by security authorities.

In a statement issued late Saturday, the ministry described the reports as completely false and without any factual basis, stressing that the information being circulated online was inaccurate.

The ministry said that no such arrests had taken place and urged the public to rely on official and accredited sources when seeking information about security-related matters.

It warned against the circulation and republication of unverified reports, noting that such information could mislead public opinion and contribute to the spread of rumors.

The ministry also called on social media users to exercise responsibility and accuracy when sharing news, emphasizing the importance of verifying information through official channels before publishing or forwarding it.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to transparency and timely communication through official platforms, urging the public to disregard unsubstantiated claims circulating on social media.

The statement comes amid increased efforts by government agencies to combat misinformation and encourage the public to obtain news from reliable and authorized sources.
