Kuwait withdraws citizenship from 2,192 people and their dependents

The official gazette Kuwait Alyawm has published a series of decrees ordering the withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship from 2,192 persons and those who acquired nationality through dependency, in addition to the revocation of citizenship from one person.

The decisions were issued through eight separate decrees published in the latest edition of the gazette.

According to the published decrees, Decree No. 90 of 2026 ordered the withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship from 26 individuals, while Decree No. 91 provided for the withdrawal of citizenship certificates from five people.

The largest number of cases was included in Decree No. 92, which stipulated the withdrawal of citizenship from 1,594 individuals. Decree No. 93 ordered the withdrawal of citizenship from an additional 491 people.

Meanwhile, Decree No. 94 revoked Kuwaiti citizenship from one individual.

The remaining decisions included Decree No. 95, which ordered the withdrawal of citizenship certificates from four people, Decree No. 96, which withdrew citizenship from two individuals, and Decree No. 97, which stipulated the withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship from 70 people.

The names of those affected by the decisions were published in the official gazette in accordance with the decrees.

The latest measures form part of the government’s ongoing review of citizenship files and nationality records. No further details regarding the legal grounds for each individual case were provided in the summary accompanying the published decrees, reports Al-Rai daily.
