Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan has reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to developing a modern, integrated and sustainable transportation system, describing transport infrastructure as a key pillar of Kuwait Vision 2035.
Speaking during Kuwait’s participation in the World Sustainable Transport Forum 2026 in Beijing, organized by China’s Ministry of Transport, Al-Mashaan said sustainable transport must balance environmental responsibility, economic feasibility, accessibility and operational efficiency.
The forum was attended by Chinese Transport Minister Liu Wei, ministers and heads of delegations from several countries, as well as representatives of international organizations.
Al-Mashaan said Kuwait’s approach focuses on building an integrated transport network that strengthens connectivity and accessibility while improving economic efficiency, protecting the environment and ensuring long-term sustainability.
She emphasized that modern transport infrastructure should not be viewed solely in terms of physical connectivity, but as part of a broader system designed to support economic development and improve access to transport services.
The forum is addressing five key areas: strengthening global initiatives; improving connectivity and developing integrated transport systems; promoting green transportation; using artificial intelligence to transform the transport sector; and ensuring sustainable transport services are accessible to all.
Kuwait’s participation highlights the growing importance of sustainable mobility, technology and infrastructure planning in supporting the country’s long-term development objectives under Vision 2035.
