Kuwait Crown Prince holds intensive New York talks with Arab, European and world leaders

Kuwait stepped up its diplomatic engagement in New York as His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, representing His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, held a series of meetings with Arab, European and international leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meetings brought together the Crown Prince with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, European Council President Antonio Costa, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs, Icelandic Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda.
The discussions focused on Kuwait’s bilateral relations with the countries concerned, opportunities to strengthen cooperation across various fields and regional and international developments of common interest. The Crown Prince met President Erdoğan at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of Turkey to the United Nations in New York, where the two sides reviewed Kuwait-Turkey relations and ways to further develop cooperation.
He also met King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Hussein at the Jordanian monarch’s residence in New York. The discussions addressed the longstanding ties between Kuwait and Jordan and prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation. At Kuwait’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Sheikh Sabah Khaled separately received European Council President Antonio Costa and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
The Crown Prince also held meetings with Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs, Icelandic Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda. Across the meetings, the Crown Prince conveyed the greetings of the Amir to the leaders and officials and discussed ways to strengthen relations and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Regional and international developments were also on the agenda, reflecting Kuwait’s engagement with partners on issues being discussed during the high-level week of the UN General Assembly. The meetings formed part of an active diplomatic schedule for the Crown Prince in New York, bringing Kuwait’s bilateral relationships with Arab, European and other international partners into focus alongside the broader discussions of the General Assembly.
The meetings were attended by Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Ambassador Mansour Ayad Al-Otaibi, Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organisations Ambassador Sadiq Mohammed Marafi, Kuwait’s Ambassador to the United States Sheikha Zain Sabah Al-Nasser Al-Saud Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Tariq Mohammed Al-Bannai, Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Major General Ahmed Abdulrahman Al-Dai and Assistant Foreign Minister for the Minister’s Office Affairs Minister Plenipotentiary Abdullah Nasser Al-Obaidi.
