GTD reports 1,646 accidents, over 32,000 violations in weeklong campaign

The General Traffic Department continues its nationwide campaigns to enforce traffic discipline across all governorates.

From October 18 to 24, the Ministry of Interior under the supervision of Major General Hamed Al-Dawas, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs, and Brigadier Abdullah Al-Ateeqi, head of the sector has recorded 1,646 traffic accidents, including 267 resulting in injuries or fatalities and 1,379 causing only material damage, reports Al-Anba daily.

A total of 32,313 traffic violations were recorded across the six governorates as follows:

  • Highways: 6,649 violations
  • Farwaniya: 5,162
  • Capital: 4,810
  • Ahmadi: 4,809
  • Jahra: 4,112
  • Hawalli: 3,819

The campaigns also led to 256 vehicles and 27 motorcycles being impounded; referral of 45 juveniles to the Juvenile Prosecution; 58 violators sent to the Traffic Department for serious breaches of traffic laws; 54 residency violators arrested and 9 individuals detained for driving vehicles in unsafe conditions.

The General Traffic Department emphasized its continued commitment to enhancing road safety and curbing traffic violations across Kuwait.
