Violations nosedive 72% after new traffic law takes effect

Traffic violations across Kuwait have nosedived by approximately 72 percent just one week after the implementation of the new traffic law, according to preliminary data released by the Ministry of Interior on Tuesday.
Between April 22 and 28, authorities recorded 6,342 traffic violations, compared to 22,651 in the previous week—prior to the enforcement of the new law.
The data, according to the Kuwait News Agency, has revealed notable improvements in road safety compliance. Seatbelt violations fell sharply by 71 percent, indicating a significant rise in driver awareness. Meanwhile, mobile phone use while driving dropped by a dramatic 86 percent.
One of the most striking results was an 89 percent decrease in ‘reckless road behavior’, suggesting the new regulations are effectively curbing dangerous road behavior.
