UIS, UIIS, and IPS honor Advocate John Thomas in heartfelt farewell

A video montage depicting the growth of the group of institutions and the pivotal role played by Advocate John Thomas was presented as a poignant tribute by United Indian School, the first school among the group.

On Saturday, September 7, the management and staff of Indian Public School (IPS), United Indian School (UIS), and United Indian International School (UIIS) extended a heartfelt farewell to former Administrative Manager Advocate John Thomas at the United Indian International School.

The day’s events began with the arrival of the special guests which include Mr. D.K. Sharma, Chairman of Indian Learners Own Academy; Mrs. Asha Sharma, Principal of Indian Learners Own Academy; Mr. MossaKoya, Director of India International School, Mangaf; Mr. Mahmoud, Manager of Al Rasheed International School; Mr. Joseph, Managing Partner of Jo & Jo; Mr. Manoj, Managing Partner of V Create; and Mr. Mohan George, General Manager of Sefeena Trading Company. The solemn ceremony commenced with a recital of the Holy Quran, followed by a soulful rendition of prayer songs by the teachers of Indian Public School.

In her valedictory address, Mrs. Elizabeth Joseph, Principal of United Indian International School, expressed her gratitude for the support provided by Advocate John Thomas during the school’s initial stages. She also highlighted his pivotal role in assisting her through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mrs. Annamma Cherian, the Principal of Indian Public School, spoke about the impact Advocate John Thomas has had on the Indian diaspora in Kuwait. She praised his altruistic nature, which has made him the leader of multiple organizations in Kuwait. She also thanked Mrs. Rachel Thomas, the wife of Advocate John Thomas and the former Chemistry teacher at IPS, for her valuable contributions to the school. Additionally, she noted that Mrs. Rachel is among the fortunate few blessed with a husband who possesses exceptional culinary skills.

Mr. Philippose, the Physics teacher at United Indian School, shared touching anecdotes that highlighted the generous and enthusiastic spirit of Advocate John Thomas.

Mrs. Asha Sharma, the Principal of Learners Own Academy, spoke about the skills that Advocate John Thomas possessed, which made him invaluable and the most trusted person for the late Mr. Thomas Chandy, MLA, the founder of Indian Public School, United Indian School, Indian Central School, Al Alia International School, Jeddah, and United Indian International School. She also extended her gratitude to the management for maintaining these relationships, even though she is no longer part of the group of institutions.

Mrs. Tessy Chandy, the Vice Chairperson of the group of schools, expressed her gratitude to Advocate John Thomas on behalf of the management. She spoke of her father, the Founder Chairman’s close association with Advocate John Thomas and the trust he placed in him. She shared a few anecdotes about how, in her father’s absence, Advocate John Thomas helped the family navigate various issues related to the school.

In his address, Advocate John Thomas expressed his gratitude to the members of the management, the special guests, and the staff of the three schools. He recounted his initial days with the late Mr. Thomas Chandy, MLA, narrating how he joined the school after taking a five-year leave from his government job back in India. Starting from a humble clerical position in the IPS office, he was soon promoted to the manager’s post at UIS and later for the group of schools because his commitment and conscientiousness were quickly recognized by the Chairman. He stated that it had been a successful journey, and he would cherish every moment spent there.

Mementos were presented by the Chairperson, Mrs. Mercy Chandy, as well as by the special guest. The solemn ceremony was followed by a photo session with the staff of all three schools, and the program concluded with a sumptuous buffet.
