Qatar Court of Cassation acquits Abdullah Al-Shaheen
. . . brings Egyptian Steel-related case to close

Qatar’s Court of Cassation has issued a final and binding verdict acquitting Abdullah Ahmed Shaheen Al-Shaheen and others of all charges in a case stemming from the dispute widely known as the “Egyptian Steel” case, bringing the proceedings to a close.
In its ruling issued on October 26, 2026, in Criminal Cassation Appeals Nos. 1444 and 1532 of 2026, the court overturned previous in-absentia convictions, acquitted Al-Shaheen and the other defendants of all charges, and rejected the Public Prosecution’s appeal.
The judgment followed the court’s examination of the legal and substantive aspects of the case, including its connection to the original Egyptian Steel dispute. The ruling also took into account the outcome of the original case, in which a judgment was issued on October 6, 2025, with findings in favour of Al-Shaheen and others concerning the allegations against them.
According to the case account, the Court of Cassation considered the findings in the original proceedings and their implications for the legal basis of the subsequent charges before reaching its decision to overturn the convictions and acquit the defendants.
The latest ruling marks the conclusion of another legal proceeding linked to the Egyptian Steel dispute and reinforces the final judicial findings concerning Al-Shaheen and the other defendants.
With the October 26 judgment, Qatar’s highest court of appeal has brought the case to a close, reaffirming the role of final judicial decisions in resolving disputes and determining the legal position of the parties involved.
