On average 2,740 cases per day filed in courts in 2023
The case registration index has consistently increased with approximately one million cases being filed before Kuwaiti courts in 2023. This translates to an average of 2,740 cases per day, according to recent statistics issued by the Ministry of Justice.
The ministry source acknowledged that this substantial caseload strains the judiciary, leading to delays in resolving disputes. In the face if this, the source said there is a comprehensive plan to expedite legal proceedings by appointing more Kuwaiti law graduates.
Meanwhile, Hashem Al-Qallaf, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, enumerated the achievements of the judiciary saying during 2023 in terms of collecting state money or protecting public money with the help of the electronic justice portal and service centers.
Al-Qallaf provided insights into the Ministry’s achievements in 2023, stating that collections through the Electronic Justice Portal – General Administration of Implementation exceeded 45.125 million dinars; total and partial performance orders during the same period amounted to 128.682 million and money collected in the form of fees reached 2.135 thousand dinars and penal fines paid through the electronic justice portal surpassed 1.789 million dinars.
Al-Qallaf highlighted the significant transactions processed by service centers across the country, totaling more than 603,773 transactions in 14 centers. The Ministry’s modernization efforts resulted in the completion of 73,966 electronic newspapers and 818,066 transactions in judicial inquiry departments throughout the country in 2023.
Expressing gratitude, Al-Qallaf thanked all members of the judiciary and Ministry of Justice employees for their efforts in serving justice. He affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ongoing development and improvement across all sectors and departments to enhance services and achieve complete justice.
