In connection with the International Women Day (IWD), 2021 the Embassy of Pakistan in Kuwait organized a webinar themed “Ladies…Protect your bones” on 8th March 2021. Dr. Kashif Rizvi, an eminent and well-known Consultant Physician (MD, FRCP, CCST, UK dual board certified) in Kuwait was the key Speaker. Women from various spheres of life were encouraged to participate.

Ms. Tehreem Ilyas, Third Secretary, Embassy of Pakistan in Kuwait chaired the webinar and highlighted the formidable role played by women in public and private life. While referring to this year’s IWD theme of “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world,” she stressed the need of women empowerment by focusing on their well-being.

Chief Patron Pakistan Women Forum & Wife of Pakistani Ambassador to Kuwait, Mrs. Ambreen Mustafa, in her welcoming remarks, paid tribute to the frontline women health-workers and professionals who sacrificed their lives owing to their services during Covid-19 pandemic. She appreciated the contribution of women in various spheres of life. In her address, she highlighted key issues regarding women-health related problems and pointed out that women often ignore themselves while taking care of their loved ones. She urged the participants to take a pledge with their own selves in looking after their own health.

Dr. Kashif Rizvi, in his elucidating lecture, briefed about osteoporosis and stressed the implications of Vitamin-D and calcium deficiency on quality of life. He briefed about major health problems, which affect the quality of life amongst women. He stressed the need for addressing Vitamin-D deficiency and urged the women participants to supplement their deficiency with a good diet, supplements, and daily walk/exercise. During his interactive session, he addressed various queries raised by the participants.

The webinar concluded with an interactive question and answers session. All the participants pledged to ensure health-care for themselves and the people around.
