The Italian Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, H.E. Carlo Baldocci, announced the cultural and academic initiative “SENSITALIANI” (ItalianSenses), with the aim of promoting the Italian design sector. This initiative is organized by the Italian Embassy in the State of Kuwait and in cooperation with the Institute “Poli Design” (POLI.design), which was founded by the prestigious Polytechnic University of Milan (Politecnico di Milano) .

The initiative consists of 10 months of various activities in the field of design, of which 3 months are devoted to virtual lectures for 50 participants from the State of Kuwait (including 40 students from various local universities and 10 engineers from private companies), 8 evening seminars open to all attendees and to conclude a field tour For 6 days in Italy for design students and industry professionals in Kuwait who want to know and deepen Italian design and culture.

The Ambassador said that from March to December 2021, SENSITALIANI, the Scientific Department of Professor Anna Barbara, will promote three key moments of activities, targeting those interested in Italian culture, design students and industry professionals in the State of Kuwait. The first part of the program will feature two sessions of online lectures and conferences on design aspects and common interests of both countries, followed by a study trip to Italy for the participants.

The main theme of the project will be “SENSITALIANI”: sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste, through which the beauty of Italian culture is presented, from art to design, and from fashion to theater, cinema, cuisine, nature, sports and more. In fact, the design is not only intended to be a commercial vehicle for companies operating in this sector, but above all as a cultural engine to promote Italy and its identity in its broadest sense: as a cultural, artistic, social, economic and educational form.

This event will be officially opened with a virtual seminar on the Zoom platform on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 12:00 (Kuwait local time), and will conclude at the end of the year with a certificate distribution ceremony for students and the presentation of the final works along with materials, interviews, photos and videos filmed during all phases of the project.

POLI.design, together with the School of Design and the Design Department, makes up the design system of the Polytechnic University of Milan, among the best universities in the world, currently included in the (QS World University Rankings) according to the article 2020 in first place in Italy, third in Europe and sixth at the level of The world is in the art and design category.

Ambassador Baldocci confirmed that the initiative has received great interest in Kuwait, as Italian design represents a very important part of the interaction between the two Countries and further expansion of the Italian-Kuwaiti dialogue and cooperation opportunities is expected. On this occasion, Ambassador Baldocci expressed his appreciation for the keen interest in the initiative by both the College of Architecture at Kuwait University and the American University of the Middle East (AUM) in Kuwait.
