Municipality intensifies crackdown on public space violations in commercial areas
20 citations issued as Kuwait targets illegal road occupancy by shops across governorates

Kuwait Municipality affirmed on Monday the continuation of its field inspection campaigns targeting violations related to the use of public space in front of commercial establishments across the six governorates.
The campaigns aim to assess compliance with regulations, bylaws, and licensing requirements. Khaled Ra’i Al-Fahma, head of the Farwaniya Municipality team, stated in a press release during the municipality’s second inspection tour in the Al-Riqqa area that the campaign targets businesses displaying their goods on state property in violation of regulations.

Al-Fahma added that the road occupancy regulations stipulate that if a business exceeds its licensed area, whether by exceeding the permitted space, having an expired license, or operating without a road occupancy permit, the inspection teams will issue citations.
He noted that the municipality’s field tours significantly contribute to preventing the obstruction of public spaces in front of commercial establishments, which often causes traffic congestion for citizens and can even lead to the closure or narrowing of internal streets, impeding the flow of traffic.

He explained that the team conducted a field tour today, during which they issued 20 citations for obstructing roads and using space in front of shops without a permit.
He emphasized that the municipality’s inspection teams will not hesitate to take regulatory measures in accordance with municipal regulations and laws, ensuring compliance with the relevant rules and regulations.

He noted that the inspection teams from the safety departments in the six governorates are paying close attention to enforcing Kuwait Municipality’s regulations and systems through field campaigns conducted throughout the country
