MPW unveils 66 projects in 2025–2026 plan to boost infrastructure and public services

The Ministry of Public Works has unveiled a comprehensive plan comprising 66 new projects for the 2025–2026 fiscal year, encompassing all sectors of the ministry. This initiative reflects a strategic push to upgrade Kuwait’s infrastructure and bolster the quality of public services across the country.

The ministry’s annual procurement and contracting plan includes projects in maintenance, construction, planning, administration, and transportation, aiming to meet the country’s growing development needs with integrated solutions, reports Al-Rai daily.

Three major initiatives are set to be executed under the Maintenance Engineering Sector, including:

  • Construction of roads in northern agricultural areas
  • Road development in southern agricultural zones
  • Renovation, maintenance, and construction of buildings owned by the ministry

Under the Construction Projects Affairs Sector, 14 large-scale projects have been approved. These include:

  • A complex for special education schools
  • The Public Authority for Civil Information headquarters
  • A new correctional institutions complex
  • The General Department of Investigations building
  • A general detention facility
  • A permanent building for the Ministry of Higher Education
  • The Funaitees neighborhood center
  • The Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Office
  • A volunteer work center
  • Headquarters for the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition
    The plan outlines:
  • 15 projects in the Planning and Development Sector and the Information Systems Center
  • 9 projects in the Administrative, Financial, and Legal Affairs Sector, plus an additional project to support internal development
  • A major portion of the 2025–2026 roadmap is dedicated to enhancing Kuwait’s transport infrastructure, with 24 projects to be implemented by the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport. Key highlights include:
  • A dual carriageway linking Saad Al-Abdullah City and Amghara Industrial Area, connecting Jahra Road to the Sixth Ring Road
  • Construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, stormwater drainage, and sewage systems in the Kabad–Sulaibiya Industrial area, including parts of Route 604

Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan reiterated the ministry’s ongoing efforts to maintain and upgrade roads in Abdullah Al-Mubarak, as part of 18 projects targeting highways and internal roads in all governorates. She emphasized the ministry’s focus on international quality standards, stating that infrastructure maintenance is key to economic and urban development.

Providing field updates, Engineer Abdullah Al-Mutairi, Deputy Supervisor of Contract No. 12 in Farwaniya (Zone 2), confirmed that crews are currently:

  • Laying Type 2 asphalt on Streets 802, 807, and 826 in Block 8
  • Milling and removing the second asphalt layer on Streets 828, 829, and 834

Carrying out maintenance on the stormwater drainage network in Rabiya, Block 1
Looking ahead, he stated that asphalt work will begin next week in Omariya, Block 1, where drainage maintenance has been completed. Similar drainage inspections and repairs will also start in Rehab, Block 3.

This ambitious roadmap underscores the ministry’s dedication to improving living standards, streamlining services, and supporting national development goals across Kuwait.
