Notable drop seen in traffic violations following implementation of new amended law

Weekly statistics released by the General Traffic Department indicate a positive decline in traffic violations during the second week of enforcing the recently amended Traffic Law.

According to data recorded between April 26 and May 2, 2025, traffic patrols documented a total of 2,774 traffic violations of various types. In addition, 31 individuals were placed in precautionary detention, and 15 juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Prosecution, according Al-Rai daily.

The department also impounded 50 vehicles and motorcycles, seized 43 vehicles wanted by law, and arrested 34 wanted individuals. Furthermore, 35 residence law violators were arrested, and two individuals found in an abnormal condition, 12 for not carrying identification papers, and one for possessing a weapon. The authorities also detained seven street vendors.

All those arrested were handed to the relevant authorities.

The Operations Department of the General Traffic Department responded to 2,792 reports during the same period.

Meanwhile, the GTD personnel handled 1,344 accidents, including 1,170 collisions and 174 involving injuries.
