Ministry of Social Affairs temporarily halts all fundraising activities

The Ministry of Social Affairs has announced a temporary halt to all fundraising activities after uncovering unauthorized websites soliciting donations in violation of official regulations.

The Ministry explained that the suspension aims to protect the reputation of Kuwaiti charity societies and protect Kuwait’s position in the global humanitarian and charitable sector.

It also seeks to safeguard donors’ funds from potential misuse and prevent any practices that could undermine the integrity of charity work.

According to the Ministry, the suspension is part of broader efforts to restructure and regulate donation mechanisms through unified and transparent procedures. Regulatory authorities will take legal action against individuals or entities found violating the directive.

A circular has been issued to all registered charity societies and organizations, instructing them to immediately cease collecting donations via their websites, social media platforms, and any private links, until further notice.
