India Embassy in Kuwait marks 11th Ayurveda Day with focus on holistic health

  • More than 200 practitioners, wellness experts and members of the Indian community gathered at the Embassy of India in Kuwait as the 11th Ayurveda Day highlighted traditional Indian health practices, preventive care and holistic well-being.

More than 200 Ayurveda practitioners, wellness experts, representatives of Ayurveda-related organisations and members of the Indian community gathered at the Embassy of India in Kuwait on September 23 for the 11th Ayurveda Day, highlighting India’s traditional approach to health and wellness through expert talks, presentations, an exhibition, healthy food displays and cultural performances.

The 11th Ayurveda Day was observed on September 23, 2026, under the theme “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow.” The date is now observed annually on September 23 following a Government of India notification, giving the observance a fixed place on the international calendar.

The programme opened with a video message from Shri Baidya Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. Ambassador of India to Kuwait H.E. Mrs Paramita Tripathi addressed the gathering, underlining Ayurveda’s place in India’s traditional knowledge and healthcare heritage and its growing recognition internationally.

Ayurveda takes a holistic approach to health, placing emphasis on balance between the body and mind through diet, lifestyle, daily routines and other wellness practices. Its focus on prevention and healthy living has contributed to wider interest in traditional systems of wellness.

The programme also examined how Ayurvedic approaches relate to some of the health and lifestyle concerns of modern life. Two speakers designated by the Ministry of Ayush delivered expert presentations through video. Dr C. Ashwin Chandra spoke on “Ayurveda for Stress Management and Better Sleep,” focusing on Ayurvedic approaches to stress management, sleep and overall well-being. Dr Amrish Prakash Dedge also delivered an expert presentation as part of the programme.

Mr Roopesh Ravi made a presentation on the benefits of Ayurveda and its role in promoting holistic health and well-being, while Dr Gauri Bhagwat spoke on “Ayurveda to Prevent or Manage Lifestyle Diseases and Preventive Health.”

A Kalari-Yoga performance by Centre for India Studies (CIS) in collaboration with KMS Kalari was presented which showcased elements of India’s traditional practices of Kalaripayattu and Yoga and their emphasis on physical discipline, balance and overall well-being.

An Ayurveda and healthy-living exhibition gave participants an opportunity to explore Ayurvedic products, wellness practices and healthy preparations presented by Ayurveda-related entities in Kuwait. Healthy food stalls complemented the exhibition, showcasing nutritious preparations and reinforcing the importance of balanced dietary practices as part of a broader approach to healthy living.

The Kuwait celebration formed part of the wider 11th Ayurveda Day observance in 2026, which placed preventive healthcare, wellness and healthy lifestyles at the centre of the year’s programme. The official Ayurveda Day platform lists the promotion of Ayurveda, public awareness and community engagement among the objectives of the observance.

For the Indian community in Kuwait, the event also provided a platform to showcase an important part of India’s traditional knowledge and cultural heritage while bringing practitioners and wellness professionals together with the wider community. The Embassy’s programme highlighted how traditional health and wellness practices can serve as a point of cultural and people-to-people engagement between India and Kuwait, while creating greater awareness of Ayurveda among the wider community.

The event concluded with a broader message around healthy living, preventive care and holistic well-being, placing Ayurveda’s traditional principles within the context of contemporary interest in wellness and healthier lifestyles.
