Minister emphasizes developing strong workforce to tackle electricity, water challenges

The Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, during his first field visit after assuming office, emphasized the need to develop and enhance human resources to effectively address any challenges facing the electricity and water grid.
This statement was made during his tour of the Al-Subiya Power and Water Distillation Plant, where he was accompanied by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Adel Al-Zamil, and the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Power and Water Distillation Plants, Eng. Mohammed Khazal, to extend Eid al-Fitr greetings to the workers.
The Nerve of the Ministry
Al-Mukhaizeem stated that the ministry’s national cadres are a source of pride, particularly those in the power stations sector, as they serve as the backbone of the ministry, ensuring the country’s electricity and water needs are met.
Expressing his gratitude to the ministry’s employees for their dedication, especially during official holidays, Al-Mukhaizeem praised their hard work in ensuring the continuous provision of electricity and water services.
Al-Mukhaizeem also voiced his pride in their efforts and confidence in their abilities, emphasizing their commitment to performing their duties with efficiency and professionalism, which contributes to maintaining uninterrupted services for the citizens and residents of Kuwait.
Importantly, Al-Mukhaizeem urged employees to work as a team to uphold quality, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure sustainability in all situations.
Control Room
Al-Mukhaizeem commenced his tour with a visit to the Electrical Control Room (ECR), where he reviewed work progress, inspected operational procedures, and assessed the readiness of the power and water distillation stations in preparation for the summer of 2025.
The Acting Director of the Subiya Power Plant, Engineer Talal Al-Shammari, provided a detailed overview of the plant’s electrical control system. He highlighted its combined production capacity of 7,100 megawatts, accounting for 35% of Kuwait’s total energy output, along with its ability to produce 100 million imperial gallons of water per day.
Al-Mukhaizeem’s tour also included visits to the steam turbine hall, the Thermal Control Room (TCR), and the distillation unit control room, where the Minister was briefed on the modernization efforts for one of the steam turbines.
