Minister Al-Awadhi opens Mutlaa Health Center, unveils healthcare expansion plans

The Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi inaugurated, today, Wednesday, 19th March, the Mutlaa Health Center (8 N), marking the third facility to open following the launch of centers (10 N and 11 N). This is part of a broader plan to establish 15 health centers, along with specialized medical facilities, to cater to the residents of the Mutlaa residential area.
During the inauguration while speaking to reporters, Minister Al-Awadhi emphasized that the center reflects the Ministry of Health’s commitment to its strategic plan aimed at enhancing and expanding healthcare services for both citizens and residents.
Al-Awadhi highlighted that the center features a range of specialized and general clinics, including those dedicated to chronic diseases and diabetes, as well as separate clinics for men and women. It also houses vaccination and nursing services, along with a fully equipped dental department consisting of, five state-of-the-art clinics with advanced radiology capabilities. Additionally, the center includes a laboratory department and a pharmacy stocked with a full range of medications.
The ministry plans to open a mini-emergency center after Eid al-Fitr to serve the residents of the region, ensuring prompt medical attention before transferring cases to Jahra Hospital. Al-Awadhi emphasized the ministry’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services and meeting the needs of the growing population.
Al-Awadhi emphasized that Al Mutlaa, as a rapidly growing area, is a priority in the Ministry’s healthcare expansion plan. He noted that the newly opened center will operate only in the morning during Ramadan, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. However, after Eid, it will extend its hours to include both morning and evening shifts, with a gradual expansion to full 24-hour operations.
Regarding the Ministry’s projects, Al-Awadhi announced that the Al Wafra Specialized Health Center is set to open in April to serve residents in southern Kuwait. He emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure, upgrading hospitals and health centers, and investing in the training and qualification of national medical, nursing, technical, and administrative staff.
Al-Awadhi highlighted that the Infectious Diseases Hospital is 90% complete, with final construction and operational preparations underway for its opening in late April. He also announced the Ministry’s plans to open two maternity hospitals in the Sabah Health District and another in the Ahmadi Health District.
Al-Awadhi emphasized that the ministry is implementing a comprehensive development plan to transform health districts into integrated medical cities, beginning with Al-Sabah Medical City and Al-Ahmadi Medical City. These projects will serve as pioneering models, bringing together general and specialized hospitals alongside advanced health centers. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of the healthcare system and meet the growing demand for medical services.
