Kuwaiti caught driving at 200 km/h on Sixth Ring Road sent to Central Prison

The General Traffic Department has referred a Kuwaiti man to the Central Prison after he was caught driving a luxury vehicle at 200 km/h on the Sixth Ring Road, in line with Ministry of Interior instructions on serious speeding violations.

According to a security source, traffic officers detected the vehicle using mobile radar and set up an ambush to stop it. The luxury car is reportedly worth more than KD100,000, and has been impounded for two months.

The driver was informed of the violation and shown photographic evidence documenting the offense. The Director General of Traffic was subsequently notified and ordered the necessary legal measures, and referred the case to the Traffic Court.

Under the reported speeding penalties, violations become progressively more severe as speeds increase. For citizens, exceeding 150 km/h can result in a traffic fine and vehicle impoundment, while reaching 170 km/h can lead to additional vehicle seizure.

At speeds exceeding 200 km/h, penalties for citizens include a traffic violation, vehicle impoundment and imprisonment. For expatriates, the penalties include fines, vehicle impoundment and deportation, with additional measures depending on the speed recorded.
