Decree-Law No. 107 of 2024 has been published in the Official Gazette, amending the first paragraph of Article 7 of Law 36 of 1969, which governs the regulation of birth and death registrations, according to Al Jarida newspaper.
The first article of the decree replaces the phrase “after 28 weeks of pregnancy” in the first paragraph of Article 7 of Law No. 36 of 1969 with “after 24 weeks of pregnancy.”
The explanatory memorandum for Decree-Law No. 107 states that, in line with comparative legislation in neighboring countries and considering advancements in services and care for premature infants, it was deemed necessary to prepare a draft decree-law that amends Article 7 of Law 36 of 1969.
The first article of the draft decree-law mandates that the death of any child born still after 24 weeks of pregnancy must be reported to the competent health office within 48 hours of death or childbirth.
In a separate matter, the Ministry of Health announced the implementation of a practice for renewing and maintaining information security protection devices in the main operating room of the Information Systems Department. This will be conducted in collaboration with specialized companies registered with the Central Information Technology Agency, adhering to both general and specific conditions.
