Kuwait MoI: 2,818 unlicensed firearms, 284 rounds surrendered

The exceptional deadline for surrendering unlicensed firearms, ammunition and fireworks has culminated in the handover of 2,818 firearms and 284,860 rounds from March 24 to April 8, said the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior (MoI) Wednesday.
In a press release, the ministry said that the decided deadline came in the context of providing the opportunity to adjust legal situations and beef up community security.
The ministry commended citizens’ marked cooperation and thanked everyone who has handed over their unlicensed firearms during the deadline, reflecting awareness, responsibility and commitment to cementing the security system and bolstering the country’s safety and stability.
It underlined that with the deadline expiring, the law will be applied strictly against anyone found in possession of or using unlicensed firearms, pursuant to the country’s systems and laws. – Kuna
