Kuwait Lawyers Association to host AI conference on law, technology

The conference, titled “Artificial Intelligence: The Intersection of Law and Technology, and the Role of Lawyers in AI and Data Protection,” will be held in collaboration with the French Embassy in Kuwait from October 7 and 8.

Khaled Al-Suwaifan, Secretary of the Kuwait Lawyers Association, highlighted the conferences relevance in discussing the implications of artificial intelligence on legal services and its potential to displace human jobs in the future.

The conference will focus on the urgent need for governance frameworks for AI and explore various models for their implementation, as well as lessons learned from global experiences.

 

Khaled Al-Suwaifan, Secretary of the Kuwait Lawyers Association, announced that the upcoming conference titled “Artificial Intelligence: The Intersection of Law and Technology, and the Role of Lawyers in AI and Data Protection,” will be held on October 7 and 8 in collaboration with the French Embassy in Kuwait, the Al Rai newspaper reported.

He emphasized that this conference aligns with the association’s 2025 vision, which focuses on harnessing artificial intelligence, leveraging contemporary data to advance the legal profession, and ensuring data protection. These issues are particularly pressing given the rise of cyber threats targeting major global institutions across both public and private sectors.

Al-Suwaifan highlighted the conference’s relevance in discussing the implications of artificial intelligence on legal services and its potential to displace human jobs in the future.

He noted that the topics will cover the governance of artificial intelligence and the applicable regulations in the European Union and Kuwait, underscoring the critical nature of these discussions amid the rapid expansion of AIs role in various aspects of life. This growth raises legitimate concerns about the future of employment in light of AI advancements.

The conference will also focus on the urgent need for governance frameworks for artificial intelligence and explore various models for their implementation, as well as lessons learned from global experiences.
