Kuwait declares June 5–9 Eid Al-Adha holidays

During the weekly Cabinet session, chaired by Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Al-Sabah, the government announced Tuesday that all ministries, government bodies, and public institutions will suspend work from Wednesday, June 5 through Sunday, June 9 for the Eid Al-Adha celebrations with official duties resuming on Tuesday, June 10, following the extended holiday.

The Cabinet added that entities of an “unconventional nature,” such as emergency services and essential operations, may arrange their working schedules based on operational requirements, according to KUNA.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet reviewed a letter from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in which the Egyptian leader expressed appreciation for the warm reception he received during his official visit to Kuwait earlier this month.

President El-Sisi also expressed optimism that the visit would lead to enhanced cooperation between the two countries.
On the domestic front, the Cabinet was briefed on His Highness the Amir’s planned attendance and sponsorship of a Kuwait University graduation ceremony honoring top students from the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic years.

In addition, the Cabinet praised recent security operations targeting illegal cryptocurrency mining, warning that such activities are not only unlawful but also threaten Kuwait’s energy infrastructure by placing excessive strain on the national power grid.

Lastly, the Cabinet approved a decision to revoke the Kuwaiti citizenship of several individuals in accordance with applicable laws and national security considerations.
