Kuwait Customs foil attempt to smuggle into the country 1,603 drug-laced A4 sheets
European national referred to authorities for interrogation
Kuwait Customs officers at Terminal 4 of the Kuwait International Airport have thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of a narcotic chemical substance into the country. The substance was allegedly concealed in 1,603 A4-sized sheets of paper saturated with the drug, with a combined weight of 13.154 kilograms.
The shipment was reportedly found in the luggage of a European national who had arrived from London as a visitor. The General Administration of Customs said the seizure was made as part of intensified customs inspections and efforts to prevent the smuggling of prohibited substances.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of the administration’s Deputy Head for Customs Ports Affairs, Research and Investigation, Saleh Al-Omar.
According to the department, customs officers subjected the traveler’s luggage to a thorough inspection, during which they discovered the narcotic substance. The items were allegedly being carried through the airport in an attempt to evade customs controls.
The suspect, along with the seized items, is being referred to the General Administration for Combating Drugs and Alcohol for further legal action in accordance with applicable regulations.
The Customs Department praised the vigilance and efforts of its officers in detecting and preventing attempts to bring prohibited substances into Kuwait.
