Blood evidence leads investigators to suspect in Salmi murder case
Bangladeshi in police custody confesses to killing the Gulf national over dispute and setting the animal pen on fire to mislead police
Personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department in coordination with the Jahra Governorate Investigations Department, has solved the mystery of a fire that gutted a livestock pen in the Salmi area and the corpse of a person found inside the pen.
The authorities have taken into custody an unidentified a Bangladeshi man suspected of committing the crime. Investigations determined that the incident was an intentional murder and a case of arson.
Authorities initially received a report of a on the fire and after arriving and examining the site, investigators discovered the charred remains of a Gulf national. Bloodstains were also found inside his vehicle, raising suspicions that a murder had taken place before the place was allegedly set on fire..
Further investigations led officers to recover clothing and personal belongings of the victim, as well as evidence indicating an attempt to conceal the crime and destroy traces of evidence. As investigators gathered information and followed the leads, the caretaker of the pen was taken into custody, reports Al-Rai daily.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and confronted with the findings of the investigation. During questioning, he reportedly confessed to the crime, saying that a dispute had occurred between him and the victim.
According to the Ministry, the suspect attacked the victim with a wooden stick, moved him to the livestock-feed area inside the enclosure, and then set the location on fire with the intention of killing him and concealing the crime.
The suspect also reportedly attempted to remove bloodstains and dispose of some of the victim’s belongings in an effort to cover up the incident. The Ministry of Interior said that the necessary legal measures have been taken against the suspect and that he has been referred to the appropriate authorities.
