222 arrested, 829 traffic citations issued in Mahboula, and Qurain Markets campaigns
Two security and traffic campaigns conducted in Mahboula and the Qurain Markets area resulted in the arrest of 222 wanted persons and violators of residence and labour laws and the issuance of 829 traffic violations, according to the Ministry of Interior.
The first campaign was carried out by the General Department of Emergency Police in Mahboula, Ahmadi Governorate, as part of ongoing efforts to apprehend wanted persons, flush out violators of the laws and enforce the law.
The campaign was conducted in the presence of Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Hamoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and under the direct supervision of Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Hamad Ahmed Al-Munaifi, along with Head of the Traffic and Operations Sector Brigadier General Ahmed Fahd Al-Azmi.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the Mahboula campaign resulted in the arrest of:
- 109 people wanted in connection with criminal and security cases
- 62 people for expired residency permits
- 31 people who were unable to provide identification
- 11 people found in an abnormal condition
- 8 people found in possession of narcotics and alcoholic beverages
The campaign also resulted in 790 traffic violations being recorded and nine wanted vehicles being seized. Legal action was taken against those arrested, who were referred to the relevant authorities.
Separately, the General Traffic Department conducted a traffic and inspection campaign targeting vehicle rental offices in the Qurain Markets area. The campaign was aimed at ensuring that rental companies comply with the laws, regulations and requirements governing their activities.
It was led by Colonel Nawaf Ahmed Al-Sabah, Assistant Director General of the General Traffic Department for Education and Coordination Affairs. Inspectors checked several vehicle rental offices, reviewed their operations and inspected vehicles to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
The campaign resulted in:
- 38 reports issued against rental offices for regulatory violations
- 39 traffic violations recorded
- One person wanted for arrest and summons referred to the competent authority
- One vehicle impounded for not displaying a front license plate
The General Traffic Department said its inspection and monitoring campaigns will continue across Kuwait to ensure compliance with traffic laws and regulations, take legal action against violators, improve traffic discipline and protect the safety of road users.
