Kuwait calls for unified Arab health strategy at Geneva WHO meeting
The meeting forms part of ongoing Arab coordination ahead of the World Health Assembly sessions, aimed at ensuring a unified Arab voice on regional and international health issues.

Kuwait’s Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Sheikh Dr. Salman Khalifa Al-Sabah, emphasized on Sunday the importance of strengthening joint Arab health cooperation and unifying positions on shared health priorities.
He said this would help reinforce Arab health systems and enhance the visibility of Arab states in international forums, particularly amid the accelerating health and humanitarian challenges facing the region and the world.
His remarks came during his address at the meeting of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, held in Geneva on the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly.
Dr. Salman Al-Sabah, who is heading Kuwait’s delegation, reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to supporting joint Arab efforts and enhancing coordination and cooperation among Arab countries across various health sectors.
He stressed that such collaboration serves public health and safety while strengthening the preparedness and sustainability of national health systems.
The meeting discussed a number of priority health issues on the Arab agenda, including the health situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as strengthening joint Arab coordination within the World Health Organization.
The participants also reviewed the unified Arab statement to be delivered before the World Health Assembly, along with several regional health initiatives and files.
The Executive Office also reviewed the report and recommendations of the 24th meeting of the Arab Blood Transfusion Services Organization, which was hosted by Kuwait in January 2026, as well as the 15th Conference on Transfusion Medicine.
The participants praised Kuwait for its successful organization and hosting of these specialized scientific and health events, highlighting its active role in supporting Arab health cooperation.
