
Kuwait added to its growing medal tally at the fourth Gulf Games Doha 2026 on Sunday, securing two gold medals, one silver, and four bronze medals on the sixth day of the competition, which continues until May 22 in the Qatari capital.
In athletics, Kuwaiti Issa Al-Zenkawi won the gold medal in the men’s discus throw event, while Bader Al-Suwaid won the bronze in the men’s 1,500-meter race.
Kuwait also claimed bronze medals through Abdullah Shaker in the men’s decathlon, Amal Al-Roumi in the women’s 1,500 meters, and Sheikha Al-Saqhan in the women’s shotput competition.
In bowling, Faisal Al-Saleem clinched gold in the Masters event, while teammate Mustafa Al-Moussawi won the silver medal.
Kuwait’s women’s padel team continued its impressive campaign with a second consecutive victory after defeating hosts Qatar 3-0. The men’s team also gave a strong performance, overcoming Bahrain 2-1.
The fourth Gulf Games, hosted by Doha, features around 1,400 male and female athletes representing the six Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Competitions include handball, table tennis, athletics, padel, fencing, boxing, taekwondo, karate, swimming, billiards and snooker, 3×3 basketball, shooting, archery, volleyball, equestrian sports, and bowling.
